380W, GaN, pulsed output power amplifier for air traffic control and surveillance : EDN Europe: "RF Micro Devices’ RF3928B is a 65V, 380W pulsed output power, discrete amplifier designed for S-band pulsed radar, air traffic control and surveillance, and general purpose broadband amplifier applications. The amplifier is a matched GaN high electron mobility transistor in a hermetic, flanged ceramic package. This package provides thermal stability by using advanced heat sink and power dissipation technologies, says the company. The amplifier can be easily integrated through the incorporation of simple, optimised matching networks external to the package that provide wideband gain and power performance in a single amplifier, according to the company. The amplifier operates in wideband of 2.8 to 3.4GHz, between -40 and 85°C and features integrated matching components for high terminal impedances and a signal gain of 13dB.
