#OWS was great because it promulgated a wider understanding that banks got bail outs (free money), and students got student loans (which are often a kind of predatory lending by private industry). They (government, one party system) socialized the banking cartels (who already get to charge us to use our own money). Those banks in turn get government (originator of the liquidity to finance the original student loans) to enforce payment on student loans plus interest. The banks are socialized by distributing risk to the polity, but the student loans remain privatized (risk, interest bearing debt) that government even prosecutes on behalf of those banks. #OWS
